Cardinal Clean-up lives up to its name

Literal busses full of kids spent the afternoon cleaning the park and trails.

After the original April date for the Cardinal Cleanup was canceled as a result of frigid temperatures and high winds, the second attempt was a completely different story.  Temperatures last Thursday were perfect for later spring, and the wind was mostly contained to a breeze throughout the afternoon.

A day outside beats one inside for most students (and teachers).

Students from Soda Springs High School were bussed over to Kelly Park to help stack collected and cut branches, trees, bushes, limbs, and other train-clogging debris.  The trail had been marked with paint to indicate what needed to be cut and removed in anticipation of the original date, but there was still a lot
to do.

By the end of the afternoon, piles of material to be carted away for disposal had been left for crews to move, making the adage “many hands make light work” a reality.

Trees, branches, garbage, and even hubcaps were among the items cleaned.
