Cardinals Celebrate Seniors
The Soda Springs baseball and softball teams wrapped up their regular seasons last week. Both teams played their last game of the regular season on their home fields and took the opportunity to celebrate their seniors prior to the games. In both cases the Cardinals were matched up with tough Malad teams.
JT Culter and family
The boys game was first and took place last Monday. The three seniors that they honored were Elijah Dilworth, Randy Stephens, and JT Cutler. Dilworth and Stephens have been big contributors to the team's performance this season. Unfortunately Cutler suffered an early season injury and was sidelined for most of the season. As for the game itself things did not go the Cardinals way. Over the first three innings the Cardinals failed to score a single run while the Dragons racked up eleven over that same stretch. The Cardinals were able to take control of the game in the fourth and fifth innings. During those two innings the Dragons were held scoreless and the Cardinals were able to manage a single run in each inning. However two runs was far from a comeback and the Dragons eventually won the game by the score of 13-2. The two seniors that were able to play in the game help contribute in a positive way. Dilworth scored one of the two runs and Stephens earned the only stolen base by a Cardinal.

The Cardinals finished off their season when they lost their lone playoff game to the Lighthouse Christian Lions. Initially that game was very competitive. After the first three innings the Cardinals were just down three runs but they would never get any closer than that. Eventually the Lions pulled away winning by eight runs.
The Lady Cardinals senior night took place on Thursday. The Lady Cardinals three senior players are Paetyn Hopkins, McKartie Green, and Hadley Downs. All three girls have been dedicated players for the Lady Cardinals and have had a positive impact on the team. Unfortunately last week’s game was not one Soda Springs will want to look back on. The top seeded Lady Dragons controlled the game from start to finish. The Lady Cardinals were unable to ever get across the plate while Malad scored in all five innings.
