Soda Springs Open Mic Looks Ahead to a Vibrant Summer Season

Dave and Amber Torgesen at the first Open Mic

Local organizers Amber Torgesen and her cousin, David Torgesen, will appear before the Soda Springs City Council on May 6, 2026, to propose the continued support and evolution of the beloved Soda Springs Open Mic.

With a vision of expanding community engagement, the pair is proposing to move Open Mic outdoors for the summer months, hosting the event in one of Soda Springs’ local parks. In addition to live performances, the proposal includes inviting licensed, self-operated food trucks to join the gatherings—creating a lively, welcoming space for residents and visitors alike.

If approved, Open Mic will take place every second and fourth Thursday of the month from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., running from June through September. Organizers hope to return to the historic Enders Hotel lobby in the fall, continuing the tradition in its indoor home.

Open Mic remains a volunteer-driven effort. It takes a team to bring this dream to fruition.  Amber, David and Dustin Christensen are dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and family-friendly platform for creative expression. Musicians, poets, storytellers, and artists of all kinds are encouraged to take part and share their talents with the community.

“There’s something special about gathering together—especially outdoors—to celebrate local creativity,” organizers shared. “Adding food vendors and warm summer evenings makes it even more inviting.”

Community members are also encouraged to get involved by sharing testimonials about what Open Mic means to them. Submissions can be sent via email to [email protected] or posted on the Soda Springs Open Mic Facebook page.

As the proposal heads to City Council, organizers are hopeful that this next chapter will bring even more energy, connection, and creativity to Soda Springs.
