Baby Animal Day in Grace
Royalty was on hand for Baby Animal Day in Grace.
It’s spring time, and what better way to celebrate than with a menagerie of baby animals at the Fairgrounds!

While there is no way around the stark reality that it was bitterly cold over the weekend, the animal barns at the Fairgrounds nevertheless hosted scores of kids and their families that visited the puppies, kittens, chicks, foals, piglets and more that filled the stalls. 4-H program coordinator Lisa Barfuss and 4-H assistant Rachel Hamilton led the assembled Extension Office crew as they welcomed the public to the Fairgrounds for an afternoon of information about 4-H and 4-H programs, as well as generally caring for young animals.
“A lot of kids see the animals at the fair later in the summer, but it’s a different to see them in the spring when they’re still so little,” Hamilton said. Sometimes it can be hard to imagine doing a 4-H animal project when confronted with the “finished product,” so to speak, and this gave kids the chance to see them in the “right out of the box” stage.
The event was an opportunity for those with Fair projects underway to check in with the office and make sure they were on track for a busy upcoming Fair season, and it was also a chance for those with kids who were interested in 4-H to get information about joining the organization.

The local 4-H office is now housed on the northwest side of the Event Center next to the Fairgrounds in Grace, and the office is open during normal business hours. Anyone wishing to contact the office for program information or to register can call 208-547-3205, or visit the “Caribou Fourh” Facebook page for more information.
