Cardinals Drop Two Road Games
May 14, 2026 09:57AM ● By Jody ReevesThe Cardinals baseball team fell in two road games last week. They first traveled to Bear Lake on Tuesday then headed west to Declo on Friday.
The Cardinals game against the Bears was a competitive one. After getting behind by three runs in the first inning the Cardinals began to attempt a long comeback. The third inning was detrimental to Soda Springs as the Bears were able to extend their lead after a hard fought second inning. After three the Cardinals now trailed by seven runs but they were not ready to quit. In the fourth inning Soda had a mini rally outscoring the Bears four runs to zero and cut the lead to just three. Unfortunately they could not maintain their momentum in the fifth and Bear Lake pushed the lead back to five. In the sixth Soda made another run and got the lead to just a two run deficit. However the Cardinals were unable to put up any runs in the seventh handing the game to the Bears who did not have to take their last at bat.
The Cardinals trip to Declo was not as successful. The Hornets opened up the game taking a huge ten run lead in the first inning. Soda Springs just could not get anything going to respond to the early deficit. The Cardinals only runs came in the top of the fifth where they scored three runs but it was far too little too late. That game ended in the top of the fifth inning due to the lopsided score.
The Cardinals final game of the regular season was on Monday night which was senior night. For a more in depth look at that game, check out next week's article.
