Library Events
The discussion group last week at the library.
Last week, the Soda Springs library hosted a discussion event involving the book “The Anxious Generation.” The book, which involves a breakdown of the current media climate for kids, and some of the challenges involved in dealing with non-stop “screen culture” has been a focus for conversations across the county as technology shows no sign of reversing itself.
Ashley Wright, from Caribou Medical Center, led a discussion with parents and educators about ways to deal with their kids in the media landscape. It was generally agreed that it was important to acknowledge the reality of kids’ current technological landscape and go from that point forward, making technology work for families rather than against it.
The discussion was a sponsored by the Community Schools program, the Library, and others.
Coming up, the Library is holding a Dia De Los Ninos event on April 29 from 10:30 to noon.
An author’s night for local authors is scheduled for May 11 at 6 p.m., featuring a number of writers from Caribou County and other places nearby.
Summer Reading will officially start on May 27.
We’ll bring you more information on all of these events as they approach.
