Lady Cardinals Finish a Tough Week

May 07, 2026 10:58AM ● By Jody Reeves

Coming off of a successful tournament in Glenns Ferry the Lady Cardinals had a very busy week last week.  The Lady Cardinals started the week hosting Salmon on Tuesday then traveled to Malad to face a tough Lady Dragons team on Wednesday.  Then Friday and Saturday it was back to Malad to play in a tournament where they faced West Jefferson, American Falls, Bear Lake, and Ririe.  I am sure that the Lady Cardinals were hoping to ride the momentum that they had built in Glenns Ferry into last week's very busy and competitive schedule, but that wasn't in the cards.  Going up against top tier teams like Malad and Bear Lake did not help their cause.  They also struggled against 4A American Falls.  They did fare a little better against Salmon, Ririe and West Jefferson but ultimately fell in those games as well.

Against Salmon the Lady Cardinals grabbed an early one run lead after the first inning and held it for the next two innings.  Going into the fourth inning the Lady Cardinals led six runs to four but the Lady Savages had a big inning and snatched the lead away.  Over the final three innings the Lady Savages controlled the game and outscored Soda Springs five to two.  In that game Ally Ozburn earned three RBI’s, but once again it was Alyana Davis that led the batting for Soda Springs.  Davis swatted two big home runs and was a perfect three for three at the plate.  Davis also threw an astounding one hundred seventy-one pitches earning fifteen strikeouts along the way.

The Lady Cardinals have two huge conference games this week.  They will host West Side on Wednesday before traveling to Declo on Friday.
