Lady Cardinals Fall to Bears

Apr 24, 2026 09:03AM ● By Jody Reeves

Last week the Lady Cardinals ended up only having a single game.  That game was on the road at Bear Lake.  The Lady Bears had the good fortune of going into this game having already played in eleven games.  Meanwhile this was just the Lady Cardinals third game of the season.  Bear Lake came in with an impressive 8-3 record with their only losses coming from Lone Peak Utah, a one point loss to American Falls and a two point loss to a very good Malad team.  The Lady Bear’s wins have been pretty dominating for the most part so they were heavily favored in their match up with the Lady Cardinals.  Soda Springs did their best to hang with the Lady Bears and early on they stuck with them.  After one and a half innings the Cardinals trailed by just a single run.  Then in the bottom of the second Bear Lake began to open the game up.  Over the next two innings the Lady Bears extended their lead from one up to eight.  The Lady Cardinals continued to battle despite trailing.  Neither team was able to score in the fourth and then both teams put up three runs each in the fifth.  The Lady Cardinals needed a big sixth inning to extend the game.  Unfortunately the Lady Cardinals only added one run in the top of the sixth while Bear Lake drove in three more and the game ended in the bottom of the inning.

Alyana Davis led the Cardinals with two runs and was a perfect four for four at the plate.  Davis also added a stolen base and threw a whopping one hundred sixty-three pitches.

The Lady Cardinals will continue to seek out their first win of the season with a busy week this week.  Soda Springs hosted West Side on Tuesday and Declo on Wednesday.  They will then get just a one day break before heading to the Glenns Ferry tournament this weekend.
