Caribou Ladies Flag Team Fundraiser May 8
A fundraising Golf tournament for the Caribou Ladies Flag Team will be held at the Oregon Trail County Club just west of Soda Springs on May 8 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
That’s all well and good, you say, but what is the Caribou Ladies Flag Team? Well, a ladies flag team in horsemanship is a coordinated equestrian group that performs choreographed routines while carrying flags as part of rodeos, parades or community events.
Riders—usually dressed in matching attire—work together to present visually striking patterns on horseback, combining precision riding with pageantry.
Each rider carries a flag, which may represent national, state or team colors. The team enters an arena or parade route in formation, often at a trot or lope, and executes synchronized movements such as circles, figure eights, crossovers and line changes. Timing and spacing are critical, as riders must maintain equal distances and mirror one another’s motions to create a clean, unified look.
The performance emphasizes horsemanship, requiring good communication between rider and horse. Horses must remain calm and responsive despite the movement of flags and the presence of crowds, noise and other distractions.

The tournament will take place at the Oregon Trail County Club just outside Soda on May 8.
Ladies flag teams often serve as ambassadors for their communities, opening rodeos, honoring patriotic themes or representing local organizations. While competitive teams exist, many groups focus on entertainment and tradition, showcasing both riding ability and teamwork in a way that celebrates Western heritage and community spirit.
Entry fees for the tournament are $45 per player, or $180 per team of four.
Prizes and awards include: 1st place—Premium Golf Gear Set; Raffle draw prizes, and Golf Poker prizes.
All proceeds from the event will be used to support the Caribou Ladies Flag Team.
