Second Annual Library Putting Day

For the second year in a row, the Soda Springs Library opened it doors, and floors, to several sponsors for an indoor nine hole putt-putt course. Sponsors helped to decorate and set up the holes, which were played on during the day for donations to the Friends of the Library.
This year's theme was America250.
The funds raised through the event will be used to help cover costs associated with the library’s ongoing remodel/refresh project on its upper floor. Part of that upper floor has been framed out and is being converted into a quiet study/meeting room, which has been a request of patrons to the library over the years. Along with funds from the city of Soda Springs, the Friends of the Library have also purchased new, sturdy furniture, and done some quality of life upgrades on the building and upstairs area. Remodeling of a bathroom wall on the lower level is also ongoing.
Sponsors for this year’s putting course included Ireland Bank, Cindy and Drew Erickson, Woodeye Industries, Idaho Fish and Game, Point S Tire, Full Draw Archery, Baked Fresh Sourdough, Jori Nate, and the Soda Springs Rotary Club.

A table at the entrance gave Children’s Librarian Dorajo Messerly a chance to test visitors’ D.C. and American History knowledge as they finished their rounds of golf.
“I would say it’s amazing what the library is able to consistently do for this community,” Soda Springs mayor Paul Gritton said while surveying the scene.
As if sensing the question in the air, Friends of the Library President Beth Cheirrett later noted, “We are able to do what we do largely because of the amazing support of the community.”
Holes featured a range of Americana themed play surfaces, including baseball stadiums, New York City, Route 66, the National Parks, the Grand Canyon, and more. Anyone who missed the event but would like to donate to the library can use the website sslibraryfreinds.com to do so.
