Josh Wheeler Announces Campaign for Re-Election to the Idaho House of Representatives

The first day of filing for statewide re-election was Monday. We will keep you posted as the paperwork continues for local candidates.

Idaho Falls, Idaho — State Representative Josh Wheeler today announced his candidacy for re-election to the Idaho House of Representatives, District 35, pledging to continue his work to protect Idaho’s values, strengthen the state’s economy, and ensure responsible, transparent government.

“It is one of the great honors of my life to represent the people of District 35,” Wheeler said. “Idaho is a remarkable place — built by families, small businesses, farmers, tradesmen, and community leaders who believe in hard work, faith, and freedom. I am running for another term to continue defending those principles and to keep Idaho strong for the next generation.”

During his time in the Legislature, Wheeler has continued his focus on practical, results-driven policy.

“As we face ongoing conversations about Medicaid sustainability, workforce gaps, and responsible budgeting, we must be careful and thoughtful,” Wheeler added. “Across-the-board cuts may sound simple, but they often hurt rural communities and critical services disproportionately. We should use the tools available to us — including our state reserves — strategically and wisely.”

Wheeler emphasized his commitment to keeping government limited, effective, and accountable.

“Idaho’s success is not an accident. It comes from staying engaged, speaking honestly, and remembering that we are a representative republic. I believe deeply that our best days are ahead of us — if we remain disciplined in our budgeting, bold in our dedication to community, and grounded in our shared values.”

A lifelong resident of Idaho Falls, Wheeler is President of Wheeler Electric, Inc., a family-owned business serving Eastern Idaho. He and his wife of 30 years are raising their family in District 35 and remain active in church and community service.

“I am grateful for the trust you have placed in me,” Wheeler said. “I look forward to earning your vote again and continuing to serve with integrity, transparency, and resolve.”
