Cowboys Fall To Patriots
Jan 12, 2026 03:10PM ● By Jody ReevesIn their lone game of last week the Cowboys traveled to American Heritage to face the Patriots. Playing in such a large conference the Cowboys face very few non conference opponents making nearly every game crucial for district seeding at the end of the season. American Heritage is one of those conference opponents meaning this game was a big one for the Cowboys.
North Gem would need a full team effort to get the win over a good shooting Patriot team. In the first quarter the Cowboys leading scorer Craig Yost put up five individual points but unfortunately the rest of the team would only add one other basket to the team total. Meanwhile the Patriots sharp shooters hit three three point shots, three foul shots and a pair of layups on their way to a commanding first quarter lead. The Cowboys had a much more productive second quarter with four different players scoring while adding thirteen points to the team total. Even with the increased scoring the Patriots still managed to outperform the Cowboys and extended their lead by seven more points going into the halftime break. In the third quarter the scoring struggles returned for the Cowboys as they were only able to add eight more points to the scoreboard. Despite their best efforts the Cowboys were not able to cut into the Patriots sizable lead. In the fourth and final quarter Yost did his best to put the team on his back scoring nearly half of his game high twenty points but it would not be enough to overcome the Patriots offensive production. The Cowboys lost this conference match up but have plenty of league games left in the season to still earn a good seed in the tournament.
The Cowboys will have a long Christmas break before picking things back up on January 8th. They will continue a tough road stretch traveling to Mackay on the eighth then to Taylors Crossing on the tenth followed by Challis on the thirteenth. All three of those games will be challenging but the Cowboys have plenty of time to prepare during their break.
