Lady Cowboys Fall To ShoBan

Jan 12, 2026 04:08PM ● By Jody Reeves

Last week the Lady Cowboys had just one varsity game on their schedule.  That game was a home contest against the Lady Chiefs from ShoBan.  This game was competitive but the Lady Cowboys were unable to ever get over the hump and secure the win.

In the first quarter of this game both teams had a little trouble getting the ball in the hoop.  North Gem finished the quarter with three made field goals but went zero for four from the charity stripe.  ShoBan did not do much better.  The Lady Chiefs matched the three made baskets and were able to make one foul shot but missed five others.  As a result ShoBan ended the quarter with just a one point lead.  In the second period of play ShoBan was able to build on the lead putting up fourteen points to North Gem’s nine.  The Lady Cowboys continued to increase their offensive output in the third quarter and for the first time in the game outscored the Lady Chiefs in a quarter.  Even with that progress North Gem still trailed ShoBan by five going into the final quarter of play.  Both teams would have their highest scoring quarter of the game in that final stanza but in the end it was a pair of three point shots made by the Lady Chiefs along with several missed foul shots by North Gem that made the difference in the outcome.  The Lady Cowboys lost a hard fought game by seven points.

The Lady Cowboys also played Clark County last week but the Lady Bobcats could only field a JV team this season.  North Gem was still able to give minutes to their varsity players in the game while also allowing several younger girls to get some experience on the floor.  With it not being an official varsity game we will just say that the Lady Cowboys played well and galloped to the win over the Lady Bobcats.  In the win eight different girls scored points for North Gem with Olivia Rindlisbaker leading the way with eleven points.

The Lady Cowboys will have hosted a very tough Grace Lutheran team on Tuesday before traveling to American Heritage on Thursday.  Following those two games the girls will get a break for the holiday season and be back in action
in January.
