From the Recreation Department

Jul 02, 2025 10:40AM ● By Jessica Thurman, Rec Director

The last day of rec ball is a bit of a mad house, but a learning experience! We were not able to document and verify all the kids involved here (and a couple coaches), so we are presenting the team pictures as they were sent in, though they should account for all the players.

Everything is going great with Recreation!  Cohlee Winward has joined the team and has been absolutely amazing.

Last Wednesday was the final day of T-Ball and Coach Pitch!  We provided medals for the kids, and a small gift for the coaches in appreciation of their time and commitment—especially since recruiting volunteer coaches can sometimes be a challenge.  Our goal was to create a positive experience for both the children and the coaches, and we believe it was a great success.  Here are team pictures of our participating teams.

Looking ahead, we are planning a parent meeting for July 9th at Tigert Middle School at 6:00 pm for parents involved with the rec leagues, or with kids in rec league sports.  We also have a survey ready to deploy soon for parents to gather feedback on upcoming sports offerings.

Our paddleboard class begins in July (Tuesdays), and we’ve already had sign-ups.  We’re excited to introduce this new activity to the Recreation Department.  There has also been strong interest in paddleboard and kayak rentals.  However, we’ll need to pass a resolution to add rental fees to the official fee schedule.

Soccer registration remains open, and we are encouraging additional sign-ups, as well as continuing to seek volunteer coaches and referees.

As part of our outreach, we recently ran a social media cmapaing where small toy soccer balls were hidden around town.  Some of them included prize incentives such as free registrations!  Soccer games will now be held on Saturdays, which should be more convenient once the school year begins in August.

Follow our Facebook page “Soda Springs Recreation for information about those things, as well as our July 4th Slam N’ Jam.  Events planned for the 4th include 3 on 3 Basketball, Cornhole, and 4 on 4 Volleyball tournaments.  Registration begins fter the parade at the Registration desk in City Park near the basketball courts.  Registration is $20, and spots are limited.  See you at the Park!
