Kenneth J. Lund

Feb 15, 2024 12:51PM ● By Anna Pro

Kenneth J Lund, better known as Ken or Kenny J, passed away Thursday, October 26 at the age of 71, after a long hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his family and many friends.   He was born in Brigham City, UT and moved to Soda Springs, ID at the age of 2.  He was the son of Vernal J. Lund and Shirley Ann Lund.

He graduated from Soda Springs High School in 1970 & attended college at ISU in Pocatello.

He had 2 children, daughter Nicole Lund Armstrong, and son Shawn Lund.  He has 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was safety foreman at Mark III until he retired.

He then married the love of his life, Elaine Swain Lund in September, 2022.

Anyone who knows Ken knows his love of music.   At the age of 10 his only request for Christmas was a guitar.  When Dad and Mom said they couldn't afford it, he was heartbroken, so they scrimped and saved and bought him an inexpensive guitar.  Very soon it became a part of his anatomy.  He was self taught & he continued to play better and better & very soon they bought him a nicer guitar.  Over the years he added to his collection & ended up owning at least 10 different guitars including acoustic, electric, base, 12-string, etc.  In his younger years he played in several different bands and paid his way in college.  We all enjoyed endless hours together sitting around the campfire, at family gatherings & staying up late while he played his guitar, all of us singing along with the oldies & our favorite tunes.  We all hated seeing those good times come to an end.  Besides singing & playing guitar, he also put to music several of the poem's mom had written over the years.  He loved outdoor adventures, hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, snow mobiling and in his later years golfing.   We think he even enjoyed shoveling snow, although he never admitted it.  He lived life to the fullest & anyone who wanted to join in was included in his adventures.  If he wasn't doing things outdoors, he was in his shop doing his many projects, building furniture, making crosses, doing mechanics, or making improvements to his home.  The old saying, 'Don't let any grass grow under your feet,' was an understatement for him.

He is survived by his wife Elaine Swain Lund, mother Shirley Ann Lowe Lund, sister Kathy Lund Warren, brother-in-law Nathan Warren, daughter Nicole Lund Armstrong, son-in-law Darren Armstrong, son Shawn Lund, daughter-in law Nicole Lamb, 5 stepchildren, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernal J. Lund, sister, Sally Ann Lund & wife Vicki Lund.

There was a celebration of his life at the Caribou Bible Church November 10th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., the day prior to him turning 72.
